Privacy policy

Last updated 5 October 2026

This policy covers murdecode.com, the website for the Murdecode game. It explains what we collect when you visit, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: we collect as little as we can, and nothing optional runs unless you switch it on.

Who we are

Murdecode is made by WizPie Limited ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales (no. 13559744) with its registered office at 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal data described here.

Questions or requests about your data: hello@wizpie.com.

What we collect and why

When you join the launch list

We collect your email address, the consent statement you ticked and the time you signed up. Netlify, which stores the sign-ups for us, may also record your IP address and browser details with the submission to help block spam.

We use your address for one thing: a single email when Murdecode launches. We won't send newsletters or pass it to anyone for their own marketing. Our legal basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us, and we'll delete your address straight away.

We delete the whole list, including the consent records, within 30 days of sending the launch email. The list is only for people aged 16 or over.

You don't have to give us your email address. If you don't, the only difference is that we can't tell you when the game launches.

When you email us

We receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it to reply, and keep it only as long as we need to deal with your message. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you.

When you visit the site

Like any website, our hosting provider receives technical information with each request: your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time. This is used to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, and is kept for a limited period set by the host. We don't use it to identify you. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website.

Cookies and similar storage

The site sets no cookies by default. It uses your browser's local storage for one thing it needs to work: remembering your cookie choices (stored as murdecode-consent, until you clear it).

You can also allow analytics, which counts visits. It's off unless you switch it on. We don't use any analytics tool at the moment. If we add one, we'll name it here, and it will only run if you've allowed it. We don't run ads or advertising trackers.

You can change your choices at any time in the cookie preferences at the bottom of every page.

Fonts, images and scripts are all served from our own site, so visiting doesn't send requests to font services or other third parties.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We share it only with the services that run the site for us:

These providers process your data on our instructions and may not use it for their own purposes.

Some of these providers are based in the United States. Where data leaves the UK, we rely on the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawing doesn't affect anything we did with your data before you withdrew. Email hello@wizpie.com and we'll respond within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. If you live in the European Union, you have the same rights under the EU GDPR and can also complain to your local data protection authority.

We don't make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.

Children

This site isn't aimed at children, and the launch list is only for people aged 16 or over. If you think someone younger has signed up, email us and we'll delete their address.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
